- Group Leadership: Assist the Program Leader in navigating the day and handling unexpected challenges. In case of emergency, the Program Assistant must be able to confidently lead the group if separated from the Program Leader.
- Daily Operations: Gather and prepare work tasks for the day, track inventory, and advise the Bookkeeper regarding the need for program supplies.
- Documentation & Communication: Review, edit, or write the daily program summaries. Maintain clear, effective, and empathetic communication with staff, volunteers, and parents.
- Personal Care: Support participants' individual needs; occasionally, minimal assistance with changing clothes or personal hygiene may be necessary.

- Educational Background: A degree—or active pursuit of a degree—in Special Education, Therapeutic Recreation, Vocational Rehabilitation, Disability Studies, Social Work, or a related social services field is ideal.
- Skills: Strong ability to provide positive behavioral support, redirect focus calmly, and utilize proactive, creative approaches to keep participants engaged and comfortable. High level of situational awareness to ensure participant safety both in the facility and during community outings.
- Schedule Flexibility: Starting August 1st, ability to work 1-2 part-time day shifts (typically between 8:45 AM and 2:15 PM on designated weekdays or select Saturdays).
- Person-Centered Mindset: A deep commitment to dignity, respect, and fostering independence for neurodivergent adults, meeting each participant at their unique ability level.
- Physical & Adaptability Needs: Willingness to provide occasional, minimal assistance with personal hygiene or changing clothes with care and respect, and the stamina to actively participate in community walks and recreational activities.
