CRC Salomon is seeking experienced legal transcription professionals to support ongoing federal legal documentation projects. This remote contractor opportunity offers flexible scheduling and the ability to work from anywhere within the United States.
For more than 125 years, CRC Salomon has provided specialized support services to government and institutional clients as one of the nation's original court reporting agencies. Our transcription team contributes to projects involving federal agencies and legal proceedings that require exceptional accuracy and attention to detail.
Position Overview
The Federal Legal Transcriber is responsible for documenting recorded legal proceedings, interviews, hearings, and related content into clear, accurate, and professionally formatted transcripts. Successful candidates are skilled listeners, strong researchers, skilled typists, and capable of consistently meeting quality and turnaround expectations.
Key Responsibilities
- Transcribing verbatim transcripts from legal and government audio recordings
- Review transcripts for accuracy, formatting, grammar, and completeness
- Research terminology, names, locations, and references when necessary
- Follow client-specific formatting and style requirements
- Meet established deadlines while maintaining quality standards
Required Qualifications
- U.S. citizenship
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum typing speed of 70 words per minute
- At least one year of legal transcription experience
- Strong command of written English, including grammar, punctuation, and spelling
- Ability to maintain transcript accuracy of 98% or higher
- Familiarity with legal or government style guides, including Bluebook, GPO, GAO, Chicago, AP, or similar standards
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word 2013 or newer
