Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced CNC Lathe Programmer with strong expertise in mill-turn and Swiss-type lathes. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and improving CNC machining processes and programs while collaborating with production, engineering, and quality teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Program and optimize 2-axis, multi-axis, live-tooling, and sub-spindle CNC lathes.
- Develop CNC programs using CAM software, preferably Autodesk PartMaker.
- Design and improve machining processes, workholding, custom jaws, collets, and ejectors.
- Work with senior programmers to improve cycle times, efficiency, tooling, and manufacturing costs.
- Maintain and organize CNC programs and databases to ensure operators have access to current, approved programs.
- Ensure machining processes and programs run efficiently and support production schedules.
- Provide technical guidance and programming support to CNC operators and machinists on the shop floor.
- Collaborate with production, engineering, quality, and management teams on new and existing products.
- Coordinate programming projects and workflow based on production requirements and machine utilization.
- Maintain knowledge of cutting tools, tooling applications, materials, and modern machining practices.
Qualifications
- High school diploma/GED; vocational, trade school, or manufacturing education preferred.
- 7+ years of mill-turn/CNC lathe machining experience.
- 5+ years of programming 2-axis and multi-axis CNC lathes.
- 5+ years of hands-on setup and operation of 2-axis and multi-axis lathes.
- Strong NC/G-code and CAM programming skills; PartMaker experience preferred.
- Experience with live tooling, sub-spindles, bar/gantry loaders, and machining fixtures.
- Strong understanding of workholding, cutting tools, tooling utilization, and machining processes.
- Basic knowledge of DNC systems and NC program databases.
- Experience working with steel, aluminum, and other machining materials.
- Strong communication, organization, planning, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to lead, motivate, and support shop-floor personnel.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Pay: $20.00 - $35.00 per hour
