American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a PACU position requiring a WI or compact RN license and at least 3 years of recent PACU experience.
-
Work in the Day Surgery Center of a Level IV Trauma Center with a Level III NICU and Primary Stroke Center designation
-
36-bed unit caring primarily adult surgical patients with occasional pediatric cases
-
Perform pre-op and Phase II recovery care (no Phase I) for ortho, urology, hysterectomy, IR, imaging, and tubal ligation patients
-
Patient ratios are 1:2-3 in pre-op and 1:4 in Phase II Recovery

Uses EPIC EMR, Alaris IV pumps, and Pyxis medication dispensing system
-
8-hour evening shift from noon to 8:30 PM, 40 hours per week
-
No weekend rotation or on-call requirements

Floating limited to GI unit for pre/post care only, no intraprocedural floating

Active WI or compact RN license required
-
Minimum 3 years of PACU experience required

Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and PALS

Pre-op and Phase II recovery experience required
-
IV start proficiency and experience assisting with nerve blocks required

IR pre/post and GI pre/post experience preferred

EPIC EMR experience preferred

Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
-
Candidate's middle name/initial, DOB, and last 4 digits of SSN required for consideration

Provide pre-operative assessment and Phase II post-anesthesia recovery care to surgical patients
-
Unit support includes a CNA in each area, HUC coverage days and nights, a charge nurse who takes an assignment, resource nurse, and 24/7 RT and hospitalist coverage

Orientation includes facility-wide NEO plus one day of unit-specific orientation
-
Schedule is built in 6-week increments and typically distributed about one month in advance

Unit is closed on major holidays but open on holiday eves and the day after
-
Any color or procedural scrubs are acceptable

Free parking is available in the East parking structure on the 3rd floor or higher
-
First-time travelers considered if they have more than 3 years of experience prior to traveling, subject to manager approval

Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate with no radius restrictions
-
Former employees of the health system or its subsidiaries must be separated for at least 12 months before becoming eligible for travel assignments
