Overview:
Join a dynamic organization dedicated to empowering youth through innovative programs and exceptional leadership! The Site Director is the accountable leader of the assigned Club site. This position turns BGCOKC’s mission into a consistently safe, structured and engaging daily experience for members. The Site Director leads staff, drives program quality, maintains strong school and family partnerships, manages site operations and addresses concerns promptly and professionally. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who is visible, organized, decisive and committed to developing both young people and employees.
What success looks like:
Members are safe and engaged; staff know what is expected and receive consistent coaching; programs are prepared and purposeful; attendance, documentation and operational requirements are accurate and on time; school partners and families trust the Club; and the Site Director takes ownership, communicates early and follows through.
Essential Responsibilities:
Site Leadership & Accountability:
- Own the daily performance of the assigned site and remain visible, accessible and actively engaged in Club operations.
- Set clear priorities and expectations for staff; make timely decisions and address routine member, staff and operational concerns in the moment.
- Create and maintain a positive, organized and mission-focused culture grounded in respect, accountability, teamwork and excellent service.
- Communicate emerging risks, significant incidents, staffing concerns and resource needs promptly to the Area Director; bring recommended solutions whenever possible. Maintain appropriate leadership coverage, staff-to-member ratios and program-room assignments based on enrollment, attendance and site needs.
Youth Safety & Member Well-Being:
- Maintain unwavering responsibility for member safety and ensure active supervision, accurate head counts, secure transitions and approved dismissal procedures are consistently followed.
- Ensure staff understand and follow emergency response, incident reporting, mandated reporting, professional-boundary and behavior-management requirements.
- Respond immediately and calmly to injuries, allegations, suspected abuse or neglect, safety hazards, unauthorized persons and other critical incidents; notify appropriate leaders and authorities as required.
- Conduct and document required fire, tornado, lockdown and other safety drills and correct identified concerns promptly.
- Model trauma-informed, inclusive and developmentally appropriate practices that protect dignity while maintaining clear expectations and accountability.
Program Quality, Participation & Impact:
- Plan, implement, monitor and evaluate high-quality programs aligned with Boys & Girls Clubs of America Core Program Areas, BGCOKC goals, grant commitments and member needs.
- Ensure staff arrive prepared and deliver structured, age-appropriate programming rather than relying primarily on unstructured free time.
- Observe program spaces routinely, coach staff in real time and adjust schedules, activities or staffing to strengthen engagement and quality.
- Track attendance, participation, outcomes and member feedback; submit complete and accurate reports by established deadlines.
- Lead enrollment, membership growth and retention efforts and work toward site attendance goals established by BGCOKC.
- Coordinate homework support, meals and snacks, special programs, Club events and Club on the Go support as assigned.
Staff Supervision & Development:
- Onboard, schedule, train, supervise and retain a dependable team capable of creating a safe and high-quality Club experience.
- Provide clear daily direction, regular check-ins, documented coaching and timely performance feedback; recognize strong performance and address concerns consistently.
- Conduct purposeful weekly staff meetings and required trainings that reinforce safety, program expectations, communication and team accountability.
- Review and approve time records promptly and accurately; monitor attendance, scheduling and overtime and immediately address discrepancies.
- Build staff capability by delegating meaningful responsibility, providing resources and follow-up, and creating opportunities for professional growth.
- Partner with Human Resources and the Area Director on employee-relations matters and apply policies consistently, confidentially and without retaliation.
School, Family & Community Partnerships:
- Serve as BGCOKC’s primary on-site liaison with the principal, teachers and school personnel and maintain consistent, solution-oriented communication.
- Build professional, responsive relationships with parents and caregivers; address questions and concerns promptly and communicate member successes and needs appropriately.
- Represent BGCOKC positively with volunteers, funders, civic groups, businesses, universities, social-service agencies and community partners.
- Plan meaningful family-engagement opportunities and support organizational events, outreach and fundraising efforts as assigned.
- Maintain productive partnerships with organizations supporting site services, including food-service and enrichment partners.
Operations, Administration & Stewardship:
- Maintain a clean, welcoming and well-organized facility and ensure indoor and outdoor spaces, equipment and supplies meet BGCOKC and school requirements.
- Complete membership, attendance, meal-service, incident, grant, inventory, financial and program records accurately, confidentially and on time.
- Safeguard Club funds and property; maintain required reconciliation records and follow purchasing, cash-handling, inventory and financial-control procedures.
- Monitor supplies and equipment, anticipate needs and use organizational resources responsibly within approved budgets.
- Protect confidential member, family and employee information and ensure records are stored and shared only through approved methods.

- Assist at other Club sites, programs, trainings or events when assigned and perform other related duties based on organizational needs.
- Complete all other duties as assigned by Leadership.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in education, youth development, recreation, nonprofit management, human services or a related field is preferred; an equivalent combination of relevant education and progressively responsible experience may be considered.
- At least three years of experience in youth development, education, childcare, recreation or a related setting, including demonstrated responsibility for leading staff, programs or site operations.
- Demonstrated ability to supervise and develop employees, address performance concerns, manage conflict and maintain accountability.
- Strong written and verbal communication, organization, judgment, planning and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to build credible relationships with youth, families, school personnel, employees and community partners.
- Working knowledge of program planning, basic budget or financial controls, data tracking and administrative documentation.
- Ability to use standard workplace technology and learn BGCOKC systems for communication, scheduling, timekeeping, membership and reporting.
- Ability to complete required background screening, orientation, safety training and job-related certifications; CPR and First Aid certification is preferred or must be obtained within the required timeframe.
- Prior Boys & Girls Club experience, bilingual skills and experience in elementary or secondary education are valued but not required.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment:
This position requires sustained leadership and interaction with youth and staff in a busy, active school- or community-based environment. With or without reasonable accommodation, the employee must be able to:
- Regularly stand, walk, bend, reach, turn, sit, speak, hear and visually monitor members, staff and program spaces.
- Move frequently between classrooms, offices, gyms, cafeterias, outdoor areas and other program spaces.
- Maintain the attention, stamina and emotional composure needed to lead site operations and respond promptly in an emergency.
- Participate in indoor and outdoor activities and occasionally adjust work hours for meetings, family events, trainings or organizational needs.
Pay: $18.00 - $20.50 per hour
