Quality Engineer
Tennessee (relocating to Southern Virginia, early 2027) | Full-time, onsite
$90,000 - $110,000 (DOE) + up to 15% Bonus | Relocation Assistance & Temporary Housing Provided
Are you a Quality Engineer who knows that quality isn't won in a document - it's won by getting engineers and operators to believe in it?
This is a rare opportunity to join a market-leading advanced materials manufacturer at a genuine inflection point. You will start at their established Tennessee plant, then move with the business to a brand-new, large-scale facility in Southern Virginia when it comes online in early 2027. Temporary housing in Tennessee and full relocation support are provided - the business takes care of the logistics of both moves.
You will be working in a high-precision, continuous process manufacturing environment, partnering with Operations, Engineering, R&D, Supply Chain and Production to ensure products meet customer, regulatory and internal quality requirements - and to drive the improvements that raise the bar.
The Role
- Monitor manufacturing processes and product quality performance, analysing data and trends to identify improvement opportunities
- Investigate product defects, process deviations and customer complaints, supporting root cause analysis and corrective action
- Apply quality tools day-to-day: SPC, PFMEA, control plans, 5 Why and fishbone analysis
- Drive process improvement projects focused on quality, scrap reduction, defect elimination and reduced process variation
- Support Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement, using kaizen events and Six Sigma to bring teams with you
- Participate in process validation, qualification and product testing
- Assist with internal audits, external audits and customer quality assessments
- Maintain quality documentation, procedures, work instructions and records, and support CAPA processes
- Build genuine working relationships across Quality, Operations, Engineering, R&D and Production - and secure buy-in for the changes that matter
- Champion a culture where safety and quality come first
About You
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, Materials Science or a related discipline
- 3-5 years' quality engineering experience in manufacturing - battery, coatings, plastics, chemical processing, automotive or industrial
- Working knowledge of IATF 16949, ISO 9001 and/or ISO 14001 quality systems
- Hands-on experience of root cause analysis and process improvement methodologies
- Practical command of SPC, PFMEA, control plans and statistical analysis tools
- Strong analytical, technical and problem-solving skills, with real attention to detail
- A persuasive communicator who can bring engineers, operators and cross-functional colleagues with them - this matters as much as the technical toolkit
- Able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- ASQ certification (or equivalent) preferred, not essential
Desirable
- Industry background in extrusion, extraction, polymer processing, battery, coating, specialty films, or another high-precision continuous process environment
- Six Sigma certification and demonstrable kaizen event facilitation
What's on Offer
- $90,000 - $110,000 base, dependent on experience
- Bonus potential of up to 15%
- Relocation assistance, plus temporary housing in Tennessee ahead of the 2027 move to Southern Virginia
- The chance to help stand up quality systems in a brand-new, large-scale plant - a career milestone that rarely comes around
