The Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority (GCRTA) was formed in 1974 with the mission of providing public transit services to 59 communities and 1.2 million residents of Cuyahoga County. Position Summary: Designs, develops, delivers, and evaluates all Power and Way training initiatives. Maintains training program integrity and records.
Detailed Description
Scope:
Designs, develops, delivers, and evaluates all Power and Way training programs and materials. This includes certifications for the Signal department, track inspector, substation department, work equipment, flag, rail operations rule book, and line department. Also, RTA radio protocol, employee orientation, RTA safety rules, respiratory protection, fall protection, supervisory training, emergency response, confined space training, GCRTA power and way succession planning, OSHA 29 CFR 1910, OSHA 29 CFR 1926, EPA Environmental Sustainability & Management System ISO 14001.2015, GCRTA system safety program plan, ODOT 49 CFR Part 659, NFPA 70 E, and APTA rail transit standards.
Maintains training program integrity and records. Assesses program content and evaluates effectiveness of training. Modifies program content regularly to reflect current regulations. Maintains class participant records including paperwork, graded quizzes, tests, etc.
Organizes and prepares reports and records of all training activities. Participates as an integral team member in the Employee Development & Training Department. Actively participates in Safety Committee Meetings. Conducts toolbox talks as needed. Responds to requests for specialized and remedial training from other departments. Coordinates, cooperates, and works in concert with Safety Trainers.
Job Requirements
Minimum Requirements:
- 3 to 5 years of electrical/power distribution experience, technical training including electrical training, or related experience required; must have a strong background in OSHA, FRA, NFPA, and other regulatory related initiatives.

High school diploma/GED required; associate or bachelors degree preferred.

OSHA 10hr, OSHA 30hr, CPR/AED/First Aid certifications required.

Environmental Conditions: This person will work in an industrial and outdoor environment approximately 50% of the time.
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to see, hear and speak. The employee may be required to work at a computer video display terminal for more than 5 hours a day. The employee is required to travel to different agency sites and work irregular schedules. The employee is required to walk long distances on uneven ground, specifically railroad property. The employee is required to be able to lift 70 pounds. The employee is required to climb ladders and be able to scale elevated structures on work equipment and to descend into manholes and underground facilities.
Mental Demands: Ability to read, watch, study, observe, listen, audit, inspect, proofread, and evaluate. Ability to give, receive and analyze information, formulate work plans, and prepare written materials. Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written); develop and interpret policy, procedures, and data; maintain emotional control under stress. Must be adaptable to constant changing routine and ability to work in a demanding environment with strict deadlines.
