Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced and dependable Lead HVAC Commercial Installer to oversee and execute the installation of commercial heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems. The Lead HVAC Commercial Installer will be responsible for leading installation crews, ensuring top-quality and code-compliant installations, and fostering a safe and efficient work environment. This role demands excellent technical aptitude, leadership abilities, and strong communication skills to deliver projects on time and within scope.
Job Responsibilities
- Lead the installation of commercial HVAC systems, equipment, ductwork, piping, and controls according to project plans, specifications, and industry standards.
- Supervise, mentor, and support installation teams onsite to ensure safety, quality, and productivity.
- Coordinate with project managers, subcontractors, and other trades to ensure smooth workflow and timely project completion.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical documentation for proper layout and installation of commercial systems.
- Ensure installations meet all local, state, and federal codes, as well as manufacturer requirements and company standards.
- Inspect and test HVAC systems for proper functionality and compliance.
- Complete detailed installation records, reports, and documentation as required.
- Proactively identify and resolve installation issues to avoid delays or rework.
- Ensure compliance with all safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Train and mentor junior installers and apprentices to promote professional growth and team development.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and vehicles in safe and operational condition.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- 3+ years experience in commercial HVAC installation, including lead or supervisory responsibilities.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and installation documentation.
- Extensive experience with commercial HVAC system installation, ductwork, and controls.
- Strong communication, organizational, and leadership abilities.
- Proficient with hand tools, power tools, and measurement devices used in HVAC installation.
- Ability to work independently, delegate tasks, and manage multiple assignments.
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record (if travel is required).
- Physical ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, and lift up to 50 lbs as needed and work in various field environments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Technical certification or associate degree in HVAC, refrigeration, or a related field.
- EPA Section 608 Certification (Universal).
- Previous experience supervising or leading commercial HVAC installation teams.
- Experience working with building management systems (BMS) and advanced controls.
- Clean driving record and ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
