The Design Systems Engineer-SRT acts as the primary interface between the Chief Engineer group and Product Release Center. Primarily responsible for managing System, interfaces and interactions between components / subsystems of the gear reducer and driveline system.
- Gear Reducer and/or Driveline hardware system responsible (integration and system balancing of all gear reducer and driveline components)
- Interfacing with individual COEs
- Manufacturing
- Suppliers
- Development Validation Center
- Schedules hardware system design reviews across PRC and reviews DRE design proposals as required
- Organize reviews with Virtual Analysis / CAE team and ensures Virtual DVP / Scorecard is completed prior to any prototype hardware orders
- Manage Transmission and/or Driveline System and Interface DFMEA / DRBFM (team) reviews to ensure complete transparency and development of cohesive Design Controls leading to Robust DVP Actions
- Manages Assembly (BOM) Part# Complexity Charts including all Transmission, Gear Reducer and/or Driveline Systems with a clear definition of each assembly part#
- Manage BRT (Build Readiness Team) for prototype orders; Confirms proto hardware orders and procurement to meet program build(s) milestones
- Coordinate BOM and experimental builds with Assistant Chief Engineer
- Leads and manages build readiness tasks (build fixtures, test fixtures, dyno support)
- Supports Chief Engineer & Assistant Chief Engineer to develop manpower needs and ER&D/ED&D Cost Roll-ups for Minor/Mid-Cycle Actions/New Programs
- Review and approve all change notices ensuring checklists, Lessons Learned, and Engineering Best Practices are updated and aligned
- Leads Technical Cost Reductions (TCRs) / Value Optimization (VO) effort and alignment working closely with Product Release Center, Design Validation Center and Value Optimization teams
- Represents Chief Engineer in managing the “lessons learned” document for the program and ensure that TS (Technical Specialist) receive those updates on a timely manner to update the E-BPs accordingly
- Reviews Transmission and/or driveline system and applicable component “Validation Completion” status with DVC team periodically & provides update to Chief Engineer
- Coordinates DRBTR review and keeper of “follow up items” and decision maker on issuing GIMS for buds of problems
- Manage Quality Initiative and GIMS cross functional task force teams working closely with ACE, create priorities, action plans and track progress, align and update initiatives list
