Job description Nurse Practitioner or Physician’s Assistant
Opportunity for Certified nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to work in urgent care setting that also offers primary care. 12-hour shifts including every other weekend 9am to 5pm.
Essential Functions:
- Performs physical examinations and preventive health measures within prescribed guidelines and instructions of Physician.
- Orders, interprets, and evaluates diagnostic tests to identify and assess patients’ clinical problems and health care needs.
- Records physical findings, and formulates plan and prognosis, based on patient’s condition. Provides written home-going instructions.
- Collaborates with Physician and other health professionals to prepare comprehensive patient care plan as necessary.
- Prescribes or recommends medications or other forms of treatment.
- Refers patients to specialized health resources for treatment as needed.
- Maintains medical records using Electronic Medical Record software and completing charts within forty-eight hours after visit.
- Willing to see moderate patient load of 22 plus per 12 hour shift.
- Educates and coaches clinical staff on best practices.
- May require other duties as assigned.
- Responsibilities:
- Performs comprehensive patient assessments; including physical exams, patient history, and ordering diagnostic tests.
- Diagnoses and treats acute and chronic medical conditions.
- Provides preventative care and related education for primary care patients.
- Prescribes medications and treatment plans as necessary.
- Documents patient care in electronic medical records in a timely manner, ensuring compliance with regulations.
- Participates in continuous quality improvement initiatives.
- Maintains up to date knowledge of medical treatments, technologies and best practices.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Must be a graduate from an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program.
- At least two (2) years practicing experience in a family practice setting.
- Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
- Proficiency in minor surgical procedures.
- Strong communication skills.
- Familiarity with electronic medical records and healthcare technology.
