Job Summary
- Join the Camden County maintenance team to ensure the safety, functionality, and professional appearance of our county buildings and facilities. This role involves a wide range of hands-on tasks, from routine plumbing and electrical repairs to general carpentry and structural upkeep. We are looking for a proactive problem-solver who can work independently or as part of a team to keep our public facilities running smoothly for the community.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Facility Inspections: Regularly inspect buildings, machinery, and systems to identify necessary repairs and prevent equipment failure.
- System Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems.
- General Trades: Execute general building repairs including drywall patching, professional painting, door/hardware replacement, and basic carpentry or minor construction.
- Technical Troubleshooting: Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues (e.g., motors, pumps, and circuits) to determine the most cost-effective and efficient repair methods.
- Equipment Care: Maintain and repair various facility tools and machinery to ensure they remain in safe, working order.
- Safety & Compliance: Ensure all maintenance activities are performed in compliance with safety protocols and environmental regulations.
- General Support: Assist with facility cleaning, grounds upkeep, and other duties as assigned by supervisors to support county operations.
Required Skills and Abilities
- Technical Knowledge: General proficiency in carpentry, electrical, and plumbing repair practices.
- Tool Proficiency: Skilled in the safe operation of a variety of hand and power tools.
- Problem Solving: Ability to read basic technical drawings or manuals to troubleshoot equipment and facility issues.
- Time Management: Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines without constant supervision.
- Communication: Ability to follow detailed instructions and communicate effectively with team members and county staff.

- Experience: Proven experience in general facilities maintenance, construction, or a related trade.

Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods of standing and walking.
- Must be physically able to climb ladders, bend, and work in confined or elevated spaces.
- Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds at a time.
