Job Title: Senior Logistics Manager
Pay: $85,000 - $95,000 (+ bonus)
Location: Redlands, CA (+ travel)
Note: This operation runs 24/7, and individual schedules are determined by volume and client needs. Weekend availability is required and the facility is only closed three days each year.
Position Summary
The Senior Logistics Manager is responsible for leading transportation and logistics operations with a focus on carrier compliance, contract management, rate negotiations, vendor pickup strategies, and transportation cost optimization. This role partners closely with Finance, Procurement, Distribution, and Operations teams to drive service excellence, improve operational efficiency, ensure regulatory compliance, and support profitable business growth.
Key Responsibilities
Transportation & Carrier Management
- Oversee carrier compliance, transportation contracts, carrier rates, and logistics billing activities.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with transportation providers to ensure service quality, compliance, and performance standards are consistently met.
- Negotiate carrier agreements, transportation rates, and service contracts to maximize value and protect margin integrity.
- Ensure freight carriers comply with company policies, regulatory requirements, safety standards, and contractual obligations.
- Establish, monitor, and report key performance indicators (KPIs) related to carrier performance, including on-time delivery, safety metrics, service levels, and contract compliance.
Logistics Strategy & Operations
- Develop and execute logistics strategies related to vendor pickup programs and transportation network optimization.
- Partner with Procurement and Distribution teams to improve vendor pickup efficiency while balancing cost, service, and operational requirements.
- Design and implement transportation solutions that optimize routes, schedules, and freight utilization.
- Continuously evaluate transportation and logistics processes to identify opportunities for cost reduction, service improvements, and operational efficiencies.
- Adapt logistics strategies to changing market conditions, customer requirements, and business needs.
Leadership & Business Performance
- Lead the development and implementation of processes, procedures, and best practices that improve service levels and cost control across logistics operations.
- Collaborate with operational leadership to establish strategic and tactical objectives for multiple locations.
- Develop performance metrics, management processes, and accountability measures to drive operational excellence.
- Monitor and support the financial performance of logistics operations through effective planning, analysis, and execution.
- Build strong cross-functional partnerships with Finance, Operations, Procurement, Distribution, and Customer Service teams.
Compliance & Safety
- Ensure adherence to all applicable transportation regulations, safety requirements, and operational procedures.
- Promote a culture of safety and compliance by following established safety programs, standard operating procedures, and OSHA regulations.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on operational efficiency, safety performance, and customer satisfaction.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree preferred or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive leadership experience in logistics, transportation, or supply chain management.
- Proven experience managing carrier relationships, transportation contracts, and logistics operations.
