Compensation:

Non-Credentialed Technicians: $19 - $30/hr.

Job Description:
The Critical Care Veterinary Technician provides advanced nursing care to critically ill, injured, and hospitalized patients in a fast-paced specialty and emergency environment. This role works closely with veterinarians and specialty teams to monitor patient status, administer treatments, perform advanced technical procedures, and support life-saving interventions while ensuring exceptional patient care and client communication. Critical Care Technicians are responsible for recognizing changes in patient condition, responding to emergencies, and maintaining accurate medical records.
Responsibilities:

Provide advanced nursing care and monitoring for hospitalized patients, including administering medications, treatments, fluid therapy, and ongoing assessments to ensure optimal patient comfort and recovery.

Deliver compassionate client support and communication by providing timely updates, answering questions, and helping pet owners understand their pet’s condition, treatment plan, and prognosis during what can often be a stressful and emotional time.

Maintain thorough and accurate medical records, documenting patient observations, treatments, diagnostics, medication administration, and changes in patient status to ensure continuity of care and compliance with hospital protocols.

Collaborate closely with veterinarians, specialists, and support staff to develop and implement patient care plans, communicate critical changes in patient condition, and provide exceptional, team-oriented care for every patient.

Monitor critically ill and recovering patients for changes in condition, promptly recognizing and escalating concerns to the medical team while assisting with emergency procedures and interventions as needed.

Support a high standard of patient care and hospital operations by maintaining treatment areas, preparing and managing medical equipment, and ensuring hospitalized patients receive attentive, compassionate care throughout their stay.
Qualifications:

Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) preferred
-
Experienced Veterinary Technicians/Assistants with a minimum of two years of veterinary experience are encouraged to apply.

Emergency or Critical Care experience preferred.

Strong technical skills including venipuncture, catheter placement, medication administration, and patient monitoring.

Knowledge of anesthesia monitoring, radiology safety, and fluid therapy.

Excellent communication, teamwork, and organizational skills.

Ability to thrive in a fast-paced emergency environment.

Fluent English speaking and reading skills required; multilingual candidates are encouraged to apply.
