Location: Houston, TX
Contract Duration: 13 Weeks
Position Type: Travel Contract
Shift: 8.5-Hour Night Shifts
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 11:00 PM – 7:30 AM
Role Summary
We are seeking an experienced Histotechnologist to join a busy pathology laboratory in Houston, TX. The ideal candidate will have expertise in tissue processing, embedding, microtomy, staining, and quality control while ensuring accurate and timely preparation of specimens for pathological examination.
Key Responsibilities
- Process, embed, section, and stain tissue specimens for microscopic examination
- Perform routine and special histology staining procedures
- Operate and maintain histology laboratory equipment
- Ensure specimen integrity and accurate labeling throughout the testing process
- Maintain quality control and comply with laboratory safety standards
- Document laboratory procedures and maintain accurate records
- Collaborate with pathologists and laboratory staff to ensure timely results
- Follow CAP, CLIA, and hospital regulatory guidelines
Required Certifications
- Certified Histotechnician (HT) via ASCP
Qualifications
- Active HT (ASCP) certification required
- Previous Histology laboratory experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of tissue processing, embedding, microtomy, and staining techniques
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced laboratory environment
Education
- Graduate of an accredited Histotechnology or related laboratory science program
