Responsibilities
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using manual handling techniques such as Hoyer lifts when necessary.
- Monitor residents’ health by taking vital signs, observing patient conditions, and reporting changes to healthcare professionals in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
- Administer medications and follow care plans meticulously to ensure safety and compliance with medical instructions.
- Prepare nutritious meals aligned with dietary needs and assist residents during meal times to promote independence and proper nutrition.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing routine cleaning duties within the living spaces and common areas.
- Support residents’ emotional well-being through active listening, companionship, and engaging in recreational activities tailored to individual interests.
- Document all care activities accurately in compliance with healthcare standards such as HIPAA and organizational policies.
Experience
- Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health settings is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to work with individuals with developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, dementia (including Alzheimer’s disease), or other neurodevelopmental conditions.
- Knowledge of patient observation techniques, medication administration, care planning, and patient monitoring is essential.
- Familiarity with safety procedures such as first aid, CPR certification, heavy lifting techniques, manual handling equipment (e.g., Hoyer lifts), and HIPAA compliance is required.
- Experience supporting seniors or individuals requiring memory care or hospice support will be considered an asset.
- Strong communication skills coupled with patience and compassion are vital for success in this role.
