Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Industrial Maintenance Manager to lead maintenance operations within a highly automated manufacturing environment. This leadership role is responsible for driving equipment reliability, maximizing uptime, and leading a team of maintenance professionals in a fast-paced, just-in-time (JIT) production facility.
The ideal candidate combines strong leadership skills with deep technical expertise in industrial automation, robotics, PLCs, and predictive maintenance strategies. This individual will play a critical role in improving operational performance, reducing downtime, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives across the facility.
Key Responsibilities
Equipment Reliability & Performance
- Lead initiatives to achieve plant downtime and Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) goals.
- Develop, standardize, and audit preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
- Transition maintenance strategies from reactive repairs to data-driven predictive maintenance.
- Lead root cause analysis (RCA) efforts to eliminate recurring equipment failures and improve long-term reliability.
Maintenance Leadership
- Manage, coach, and develop a team of maintenance technicians and support engineering personnel.
- Provide technical leadership and support for evening and weekend maintenance operations.
- Serve as the primary escalation point for critical equipment failures to minimize production downtime.
- Foster a culture centered on safety, accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
Continuous Improvement
- Develop and implement action plans using Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, TPM, and Kaizen methodologies.
- Partner with Production and Quality teams to reduce scrap, improve process capability, and eliminate sources of equipment-related defects.
- Support the installation, startup, and commissioning of new automated equipment and capital improvement projects.
- Identify opportunities to improve machine reliability, cycle times, and production efficiency.
Technical Development
- Evaluate technical skill gaps within the maintenance organization.
- Develop and implement structured training programs focused on automation technologies, robotics, PLC programming, vision systems, and advanced diagnostics.
- Mentor maintenance personnel to build technical expertise and support succession planning.
Budget & Inventory Management
- Manage maintenance budgets, including MRO spending, contractor services, and equipment repairs.
- Develop and maintain critical spare parts inventory strategies to reduce unplanned downtime.
- Monitor maintenance metrics and utilize CMMS data to drive operational decisions.
Performance Metrics
Success in this position will be measured by:

Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field preferred.
- Equivalent combination of technical education, certifications, and relevant experience will be considered.
Experience
- Minimum of 5 years of maintenance leadership experience in a highly automated manufacturing environment.
- Experience within automotive, electronics, high-speed manufacturing, packaging, or similar industries is preferred.
Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of PLC systems (Allen-Bradley, Mitsubishi, or similar platforms).
- Experience supporting industrial robotics such as FANUC, ABB, KUKA, Mitsubishi, or Epson.
- Knowledge of automated conveyor systems, vision systems, servo controls, and industrial automation.
- Experience utilizing Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
- Working knowledge of TPM, Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, 5S, FMEA, and Root Cause Analysis methodologies.
Leadership Skills
- Proven ability to lead maintenance teams in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on data-driven decision making.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate technical issues into practical solutions.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure while managing critical equipment failures and production priorities.

Work Environment
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
- Frequent bending, reaching, stooping, and walking throughout the manufacturing facility.
- Combination of office and manufacturing floor responsibilities.
Working Conditions
- Exposure to industrial machinery, automated equipment, electrical systems, and manufacturing processes.
- Must be comfortable working in a production environment while following all safety procedures.
Travel
- Up to 10% domestic travel may be required for vendor visits, equipment evaluations, training, or support of other manufacturing locations.
- Occasional international travel (up to 5%) may be required to support global operations or equipment suppliers. A valid passport or the ability to obtain one is preferred.
Pay: $110,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year
