Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Nursing Supervisor to oversee nursing staff and ensure the highest standards of patient care. The ideal candidate will possess a strong clinical background, excellent leadership skills, and the ability to manage a diverse team in a fast-paced healthcare environment. This role is crucial in maintaining quality care for patients across various settings, including acute care, long-term care, and specialized medical services. We work a 2/2/3 schedule that gives you every other weekend off.
Responsibilities
- Supervise nursing staff and coordinate patient care activities to ensure compliance with healthcare standards.
- Conduct regular assessments of patient needs and develop individualized care plans.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to enhance patient outcomes and ensure effective communication.
- Monitor adherence to policies and procedures, including HIPAA regulations and infection control protocols.
- Provide mentorship and training to nursing staff, fostering professional development and skill enhancement.
- Oversee medical documentation practices to ensure accuracy and compliance with regulatory standards.
- Participate in utilization review processes to optimize resource allocation and patient management.
- Manage staffing schedules, addressing any staffing shortages or conflicts as they arise.
- Facilitate discharge planning and follow-up care coordination for patients transitioning out of care settings.
Skills
- Proficient in EMR systems such as Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks.
- Extensive experience in critical care, ICU, emergency medicine, pediatrics, geriatrics, or long-term care settings.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, ICD-9/ICD-10 coding, DRG classifications, and CPT coding.
- Demonstrated ability in team management and supervising nursing staff effectively.
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or special needs is highly valued.
- Familiarity with various medical procedures including IV insertion, catheterization, phlebotomy, medication administration, and basic life support.
- Excellent patient assessment skills with a solid understanding of physiology and anatomy.
- Strong communication skills for effective interaction with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
- Knowledge of quality improvement initiatives and NCQA standards is preferred.
