Wyandotte Technologies partners with Southwestern Power Administration (SWPA), a U.S. Department of Energy agency, to provide professional and technical support services. We are seeking an experienced Technical Writer / Records Management Specialist to support the Director of Power Marketing & Transmission Strategy through technical communications, business process documentation, and enterprise records management initiatives.
Position Summary
This is a senior-level professional position responsible for developing, maintaining, and improving technical documentation while supporting Southwestern's Federal Records Management Program. The successful candidate will independently partner with executive leadership, technical subject matter experts, and program managers to translate complex technical and operational information into clear, concise documentation while ensuring compliance with NARA requirements, Department of Energy guidance, and Southwestern policies.
Key Responsibilities
· Lead development and maintenance of technical manuals, SOPs, work instructions, executive briefings, reports, process maps, and organizational communications.
· Interview subject matter experts and independently develop clear documentation of complex business processes.
· Maintain document standards, version control, formatting consistency, and lifecycle management.
· Recommend improvements to documentation quality, business processes, and records governance.
· Support enterprise records management activities including retention reviews, inventories, electronic records initiatives, and disposition.
· Assist with File Plans, Records Schedules, RMSAs, Capstone implementation, and compliance activities.
· Develop user guides, job aids, and training materials.
· Advise program offices on documentation standards and records management best practices.
· Collaborate with executive leadership and cross-functional teams to improve knowledge management.
· Exercise discretion while managing sensitive federal records and documentation.
Minimum Qualifications
· Bachelor's degree in Technical Communication, English, Information Management, Business Administration, Library Science, or related field. Equivalent directly related experience may be considered.
· Five (5)+ years of progressively responsible experience in technical writing, business process documentation, document control, records management, or technical communications.
· Demonstrated experience authoring technical procedures, policies, executive reports, or operational documentation.
· Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Word, SharePoint, Adobe Acrobat, and Microsoft Office.
· Exceptional writing, editing, proofreading, analytical, and project management skills.
· Ability to independently work with executive leadership and technical subject matter experts.
Preferred Qualifications
· Experience supporting a Federal agency or Government contractor.
· Knowledge of NARA Records Management requirements and DOE records practices.
· Experience with Electronic Document Management Systems (EDMS).
· Experience developing and delivering professional training.
· Experience leading documentation improvement or records modernization initiatives.
Preferred Certifications
· Certified Records Manager (CRM)
· Certified Information Professional (CIP)
· AIIM Information Governance or Records Management Certification
· NARA Federal Records Management Training
· Society for Technical Communication (STC) Professional Certification
· Technical Writing or Technical Communication Certification
· Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS)
Additional Requirements
· Candidates should be prepared to provide professional technical writing samples.
· U.S. Citizenship required.
· Ability to successfully pass a federal background investigation.
· Full-time onsite support in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
