Counselor
Essential Duties: Thiscredentialed counselor must be committed to providing quality cognitive behavioral, trauma-informed care to men and women with substance use and co-occurring disorders virtually or in-person. The counselor will provide or assist in providing critical alcohol and other drug assessments, treatment, and referral services to individuals referred from the Department or Court system. Counselors may be required to testify in Court concerning evaluations and/or the treatment of individuals. Counselors have the possibility of working in multiple locations operated by the Department, providing a wide range of related services to offenders.
Physical Demands: include the ability to lift and carry to 5 -10 pounds occasionally, visual acuity, speech and hearing, hand and eye coordination, manual dexterity necessary to operate a computer and office equipment. Subject to standing, walking, sitting, repetitive motion, reaching, climbing stairs, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, pushing, pulling, balancing, squatting, and client contact when necessary to fulfil essential functions of the position. Minimum Requirements: LMSW-ACP, LPC, LMFT, LCDC or similar license to practice in the State of Texas with experience in substance abuse and/or mental health counseling.
Applicants must pass a criminal history background check and drug test. Previous Court experience and the ability to speak Spanish fluently is preferred.
