Duties
- Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments, materials, and sterilized equipment, adhering to aseptic techniques and infection control protocols.
- Assist the dentist during various procedures including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry, ensuring patient comfort and safety.
- Take and develop dental radiographs (X-ray), operate digital imaging systems such as 3D scanners, and manage medical imaging records accurately.
- Manage patient intake by updating medical history, vital signs, and medical documentation while ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations for confidentiality.
- Support front desk operations by acting as a dental receptionist—scheduling appointments, verifying insurance information, and maintaining accurate medical records using EMR systems like Dentrix or Eaglesoft.
- Perform chairside assisting with four-handed dentistry techniques to maximize efficiency during procedures.
- Educate patients on dental terminology, post-treatment care, and preventive practices to promote oral health awareness.
- Must know how to do scanning for crowns and nightguards-Minimum proficiency
Requirements
- Proven experience working in a dental clinic environment with knowledge of general dentistry procedures.
- Proficiency in dental assisting techniques including chairside assisting, infection control, and aseptic technique.
- Familiarity with EMR systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft; experience with Epic or similar medical documentation platforms is a plus.
- Knowledge of anatomy relevant to dentistry along with dental terminology used in clinical settings.
- Ability to operate X-ray machines safely and accurately; certification in radiography preferred.
- Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations regarding medical records and patient confidentiality.
- Excellent communication skills as a dental receptionist; ability to coordinate between patients, staff, and providers effectively.
- Additional skills in pediatric dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, or pediatrics are highly desirable for supporting diverse patient needs.
