This position serves as a Manager with extensive knowledge in specified areas of public accounting particularly in the area of federal and state tax. As a manager, you must be self-motivated and ambitious. You must also be organized and detail-oriented with strong time management skills and the ability to effectively balance speed and accuracy. It is also important that you have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to get along well with coworkers and clients.

Responsibilities of a Tax Manager

Review tax returns, financial reports, supporting documentation, and tax projections effectively and efficiently

Maintain in depth knowledge of accounting, tax matters, and specialized industries while staying up to date on changes

Perform complex tax research

Recognize complex technical issues and reach appropriate conclusions

Respond to inquiries from regulatory agencies

Assist with representing clients in tax examinations

Coordinate tax strategies and tax planning while providing tax compliance and tax advisory services

Anticipate problems and issues that will arise during an engagement

Resolve open items and issues encountered on an engagement

Apply effective project management skills to plan and coordinate multiple engagements simultaneously

Develop, build, and manage client relationships

Ensure proper billing of clients

Assist in supervising, developing, and coaching tax staff and seniors

Improve technical skills through CPE, personal commitment, and on-the-job training

Attend national CPE conferences and conduct in-house CPE

Participate with an active role in Tax Department sub-committees

Be proficient in use of computers and become proficient with firm utilized software
