We are seeking an enthusiastic, experienced, and collaborative Voice Teacher/Vocal Director to join our team. This position is ideal for a passionate educator who loves working with young performers, understands the unique demands of musical theater singing, and is committed to helping students develop healthy vocal technique, strong performance skills, and confidence.
Position Overview
The Voice Teacher/Vocal Director will provide vocal instruction for students ranging from young children to adults, support musical theater productions, and collaborate with our artistic staff to create exceptional educational experiences. The ideal candidate combines strong vocal pedagogy with a positive, energetic teaching style and a genuine passion for arts education.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement engaging vocal curriculum for private lessons, group classes, workshops, and musical theater programs.
- Teach healthy vocal technique, including breath support, tone production, diction, vocal health, and performance skills.
- Prepare students for auditions, performances, showcases, and productions.
- Serve as Vocal Director for selected musical theater productions, teaching and rehearsing vocal music with casts.
- Provide individualized coaching and constructive feedback that supports each student’s artistic growth and confidence.
- Foster a welcoming, inclusive, and supportive learning environment for students of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities.
- Collaborate with directors, choreographers, music directors, and teaching artists to create cohesive and high-quality productions.
- Assist with student evaluations, progress tracking, and communication with families when appropriate.
- Participate in staff meetings, production planning, and special events as needed.
- Support Stage Presence’s mission of developing not only performers, but confident and capable young people.
Qualifications
- Strong background in vocal performance, vocal pedagogy, music education, musical theater, or a related field.
- Experience teaching voice lessons and/or directing vocals for musical theater productions.
- Ability to work effectively with children, teens, and adults of varying skill levels.
- Knowledge of healthy vocal techniques and age-appropriate instruction.
- Strong piano skills for rehearsal accompaniment are preferred but not required.
- Experience with musical theater repertoire and audition preparation.
- Excellent communication, organization, and classroom management skills.
- Ability to create a positive, encouraging, and professional learning environment.
- Experience working with neurodiverse students and accommodating various learning styles is highly valued.
- Degree in Music, Musical Theater, Music Education, Vocal Performance, or equivalent professional experience preferred.
- Familiarity with NATS would be wonderful
Availability & Commitment
- Must be available during Stage Presence LLC’s academic-year programming schedule, including weekday afternoons, evenings, and occasional weekends.
- Must be willing and able to commit to a minimum of one year with Stage Presence LLC. Our students thrive when instructors provide consistency, mentorship, and continuity throughout their training and production experiences.
- Reliable attendance, transportation, work devices such as laptop/speaker, and punctuality are essential, particularly during lessons rehearsals, performances, and special events.
- Candidates seeking short-term, seasonal, or temporary employment are not the best fit for this role.

Compensation
This is a paid position. Compensation is competitive and based on experience, qualifications, teaching responsibilities, and production involvement.

Pay: $25.00 - $40.00 per hour
