Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Heavy Haul Truck Driver to join our team and lead the transportation of oversized, specialized loads across diverse routes. Duties
- Safely operate heavy-duty trucks such as tractor-trailers, flatbeds, tankers, and refrigerated trailers across regional or long-haul routes
- Load and unload freight using manual handling techniques or equipment like forklifts and roll-off trucks while adhering to safety standards
- Plan routes utilizing GPS navigation systems to optimize delivery times and fuel efficiency
- Secure cargo properly to prevent shifting or damage during transit, especially when transporting hazardous or dangerous goods in compliance with hazardous materials regulations
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, cargo documentation, and inspection reports following FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) and DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections on vehicles to ensure mechanical safety and compliance with DOT standards
- Communicate effectively with dispatch teams regarding delivery schedules, route changes, or unforeseen issues during transit
Experience
- Proven experience in commercial truck driving, specifically in heavy haul or oversized load transport
- Familiarity with manual transmission trucks and various trailer types including flatbed, tanker, refrigerated trailers, dump trucks, and roll-off trucks
- Demonstrated ability to handle logistics cargo handling tasks safely and efficiently
- Knowledge of FMCSA regulations related to hours of service, vehicle maintenance, and hazardous materials transportation
- Delivery driver experience with a focus on route driving across diverse terrains and conditions
- Ability to operate GPS navigation systems confidently for route planning and adjustments
- Experience with load & unload procedures using forklifts or manual handling methods as needed
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with appropriate endorsements for heavy haul operations
