Aide Essential Job Duties:
- Assists all staff in the implementation of a quality educational program.
- Has initiative in recognizing routine tasks that need to be done and completes without direction.
- Is available to substitute for staff scheduled off.
- Never leaves children unattended.
- Practices confidentiality and discretion regarding information on children, their families, the center, or Hospital staff.
- Performs routine tasks as required in a competent and cooperative manner. Performs, transcribes, or collates recordkeeping as required.
- Keeps facility neat and orderly.
- Sanitizes frequently and as necessary.
- Practices and implements the Union Hospital Child Development Program philosophy by providing quality, nurturant care to children.
- Practices a calm, nurturant discipline that is firm but fair and promotes the child's ability to problem solve.
- Observes and complies with Hospital policies.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education, Training & Experience
This is a PRN (as-needed) position with a flexible schedule. Hours vary by day and week, typically averaging 10–20 hours per week based on program needs and your availability. We are committed to working around student schedules whenever possible. Candidates must be flexible and available to work all shifts as needed.
Responsibilities include actively engaging and playing with young children, serving meals, washing dishes, and performing daily cleaning tasks to maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming environment.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience working with young children is preferred.
- Work experience and/or a combination of education and experience in the field of early childhood education is preferred.
- Applicants who reside in or near the Terre Haute area are strongly preferred.
- Demonstrates initiative, dependability, warmth, and understanding when working with children.
- Serves as a positive role model through professional relationships, strong character, and appropriate language.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team while providing high-quality care for children.
Employment requirements include successful completion of fingerprinting upon hire and every three years thereafter. Employees must obtain HeartSaver CPR certification upon hire and maintain certification every two years while employed.
Staff are also required to complete all required annual Union Health training and Indiana State Child Care Licensing training requirements.
