Nickie's is a neighborhood sports pub in the Lower Haight, under present ownership since 2019. We pride ourselves in being the friendly bar on the block and have a wonderful mix of regular and sports-based clientele. We do serve food, but we are not a full-service restaurant. Our bartenders are runners/bussers/tenders/servers. We do it all.
Minimum wage +tips. Employee meal and discount.
We are hiring specifically for a Sunday evening closing bartender who might occasionally fill-in for a variety of other shifts upon availability. The shift starts at 5pm. After summer, we move to close at 11pm Sunday nights, and it generally takes an additional hour or so of cleanup. This shift is an NFL shift, meaning that while you don't have to love football, it is the primary reason people will be spending their Sunday with you once the season starts.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Prior bartending experience necessary. While we appreciate all levels of experience, we are primarily a beer/shot/mixed drink/classic cocktail kind of establishment. Our regulars are predictable, and Jameson is our #1 mover.
-Ability to stand/walk for long periods of time, use stairs multiple times in a shift, lift 20lbs.
-Customer-focused attitude.
-Ability to work independently and with authority when necessary. We rarely deal with problematic clientele, but if those occasions do occur, you may be working alone and need to be able to calmly and authoritatively maintain your environment.
-Ability to multitask.
Helpful, but not required
-Familiarity with SmartTab point of sale systems
-Not scared of technology. We have 14 TVs and several remotes. We use Sonos for our music and a tablet app for our lighting. We use Slack for team messaging.
-Love of sports. You don't need to love sports, but if you'd like to work in an environment centered around them, this may be a great fit.
