Position Summary
In addition to the ability to complete all teller job functions successfully and accurately, the Teller Supervisor oversees the daily operations of the teller line, ensuring efficient and accurate processing of transactions while delivering exceptional customer service. This position involves supervising the teller staff, managing schedules, ensuring compliance with banking regulations, and providing training and support to team members.
Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities
- Strong ability to successfully manage all job functions and responsibilities assigned to teller positions
- Alert tellers about any suspected fraud, kiting, theft, or other illegal activity
- Manage, lead, and motivate teller staff to achieve performance goals
- Conduct regular team meetings to communicate updates, policies, and performance expectations
- Assist in the hiring, training, and development of new tellers
- Oversee daily teller operations, including cash handling, transaction accuracy, and balancing procedures
- Monitor and maintain proper cash levels in the vault and teller drawers
- Ensure adherence to bank policies, procedures, risk management, and compliance regulations especially when overriding transactions for tellers with lower cash authority
- Resolve customer inquiries, concerns, and disputes promptly and professionally
- Evaluate teller performance through regular reviews and feedback
- Perform teller cash audits as required
- Identify training needs and implement coaching strategies to improve efficiency and service quality
- Track and report key performance indicators related to teller operations
- Address escalated customer issues and ensure prompt resolution
- Support cross-selling initiatives by identifying customer needs and referring products and services
- Stay informed of all operational updates and changes to ensure compliance with all current guidelines
- Other duties as assigned
Qualification Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent; associate or bachelor's degree in business or finance preferred
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in banking or financial services, including teller operations.
- Prior supervisory or leadership experience is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of banking regulations, cash handling procedures, and compliance standards.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in banking software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
- Develop constructive and cooperative working relationships with others and maintain them over time
- Ability to promote a positive, team environment with a focus on customer service
