Job Description:
The Assistant Facilities Director position is directly accountable to the Director of Facilities or when absent the Vice President of Business Operation and Finance/Chief Financial Officer for the following duties and responsibilities:
The individual assigned to this position assumes duties and responsibilities which require electronic accessibility for college business during non-college operating hours and/or when off campus during regular duty hours.
The individual filling this position is expected to play a positive role in helping the College change as necessary to effectively carry out its mission.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide direct supervision and administration to the Facilities Department as assistant to the Director of Facilities.

During the absence of the Director of Facilities, provide direct management in the operation, planning, scheduling, and personnel supervision in all functions assigned to the Facilities Department. During these periods, the Assistant Facilities Director will advise and coordinate all Facilities functions with the Vice-President of Administrative Services.

Supervise all facility maintenance, renovation projects, estimating labor and materials, maintenance of all mechanical and electrical systems in support of college mission.

Assist the Director of Facilities in all operations, maintenance, planning, scheduling, and other tasks required to maintain and operate the campuses.

Assist as directed in all campus emergencies.

Perform other tasks as directed by the Director of Facilities.

Facility Maintenance: The position will manage, schedule, coordinate, plan and monitor the maintenance of all college owned facilities and support equipment in a safe operating condition at all times. This includes electrical systems, mechanical systems, painting, roofs, concrete systems, grounds and related support equipment.

Renovations and Projects: Monitor expenditures and maintain pertinent records of renovation and maintenance projects. Estimate labor and materials, plan schedule and provide direct supervision on all approved projects of college facilities.

Personnel Management: Supervise all assigned Facilities personnel as directed on all Facilities Department projects. Assign jobs, coordinate leave of absence, monitor training programs and guide and direct personnel in all projects and duties required to complete college goals and missions.

Emergencies: When an emergency exists at any college campus with mechanical or electrical systems, the Assistant Director will remain on campus until conditions are corrected or he is released by proper authority. He will respond to any natural emergency when directed by proper authority. Response to emergency situation may be other than normal duty hours.

Facilities Inspection: The position is required to inspect the Ft. Walton Beach, South Walton, Crestview and DeFuniak Springs campuses monthly, document deficiencies and follow-up to insure that all deficiencies are properly complied with.
SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES

As a part of the college's risk management tool annual mandatory compliance training is required.

Job Requirements:

This position requires a High School Diploma with trade certifications in facilities maintenance or related areas

A comprehensive background in building maintenance construction, renovation, mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems, estimating project materials and labor is desirable.

A working knowledge of scheduling, planning, budget, functions, blueprint reading, mechanical systems (including energy management systems) and supervising all plant related functions.

Possess supervisory skills and leadership abilities in dealing with the public, students and assigned Facilities personnel.

The position requires the ability to perform and demonstrate tasks related to facility maintenance and construction.

Possess a valid Florida Driver's License.

Employment is contingent on passing a physical.
