Position Summary
The Maintenance Lead Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and improving production equipment and facility systems for a manufacturer to ensure maximum reliability, efficiency, and safety. This role requires advanced mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and PLC troubleshooting skills while supporting continuous improvement initiatives and minimizing equipment downtime.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform advanced troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance on manufacturing equipment and facility systems.
- Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, three phase electric, and PLC-related issues.
- Install, upgrade, and commission new machinery and production equipment.
- Interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, blueprints, and technical manuals.
- Conduct root cause analysis on equipment failures and implement corrective actions.
- Perform predictive and preventive maintenance to improve equipment reliability.
- Repair and maintain motors, gearboxes, conveyors, pumps, compressors, and automated systems.
- Support production by responding quickly to equipment breakdowns and minimizing downtime.
- Calibrate sensors, controls, and instrumentation.
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to improve equipment performance and reliability.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, and parts inventory using FIXX software.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, company safety policies, and lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures.
- Assist in training and mentoring junior maintenance technicians.
- Participate in continuous improvement, Lean Manufacturing, and TPM initiatives.
- Spare parts sourcing.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; technical degree or industrial maintenance certification preferred.
- 5+ years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
- Experience troubleshooting PLC-controlled equipment (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar).

- Ability to read electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical documentation.
- Experience using diagnostic tools, precision measuring instruments, and maintenance software.
- Welding, fabrication, and machining experience is a plus.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication skills.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Stand, walk, bend, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces for extended periods.
- Ability to work at heights and in varying environmental conditions.
- Must be available to work overtime, weekends, or on-call as needed.
- Must be able to work in a dusty environment with small furnaces.
