Our services include LIFE (Living Independence for the Elderly); skilled nursing, home health; personal care; adoption & foster care; assisted living; adult day services; memory care; hospice; palliative care; residential living; affordable housing; home safety monitoring; Meals on Wheels; rehabilitation services and private duty.
St. John Community allows older adults to move through a continuum of care from residential living to skilled nursing, depending on the need. The Chaplain provides pastoral care, worship leadership and spiritual enrichment programs for residents, families and staff.
Qualifications:
Chaplain requirements include:
A Bachelor of Divinity from an accredited seminary or educational institution, or its equivalent; Masters of Divinity degree from accredited seminary preferred; Ordination or commission for service to function in a ministry of pastoral care; Current ecclesiastical endorsement from the appropriate faith group to whom the chaplain is accountable for the ministry (such as, Lutheran or other Protestant ministry).
Pastoral care experience.
A personal, pastoral presence
An understanding of the elderly and aging process
Ability to work empathetically with patients, residents, families, and staff
Ability to function as a part of an interdisciplinary team
Ability to work independently, evidencing good judgment in decision-making
Ability to express ideas effectively both orally and in writing
Professional appearance in keeping with meeting public
Working knowledge of computers, Microsoft Word and Excel required.
