The IT and School Operations Specialist is a vital full-time role combining technical support, school front-office operations, family engagement, and digital communications. This position ensures that the school's technology infrastructure runs seamlessly while delivering exceptional operational support to staff, students, and families. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, possesses strong technical and organizational skills, and is deeply committed to educational equity and diversity.
Responsibilities (Non-negotiables)
nformation Technology & Technical Support (50%)
- Systems Maintenance: Install, configure, diagnose, and maintain hardware, software, network infrastructure, computers (macOS & Windows), and peripherals across classrooms and administrative offices.
- User & System Support: Manage user accounts, permissions, Google Workspace, and school software systems; provide prompt troubleshooting and technical support to staff and students.
- Procurement & Documentation: Assist with IT equipment/software procurement, maintain asset inventories, and document IT processes, user guides, and security protocols.
- Network & Security Monitoring: Monitor network security, administer data backups, collaborate with external IT vendors, and recommend system upgrades.
2. Office Operations & Administrative Support (35%)
- Front Office & Operations: Serve as the face of Mission Prep by greeting visitors, answering phone calls and emails, managing office workflows, processing mail, and maintaining an organized front office.
- Inventory Support: Maintain a supply request for faculty, manage instructional materials, and organise supply inventories.
- Student Information & Enrollment: Update Student Information Systems (SIS), collect and process registration paperwork, and assist with compliance record-keeping.
- School Safety & Supervision: Maintain visitor arrival/departure logs, uphold campus safety protocols, and assist with lunch duty, recess, breaks, field trips, and school events.
3. Communications, Social Media & Family Engagement (15%)
- Family Liaison: Serve as a key liaison for family communications (attendance notices, school calendars, reminders, and updates).
- Social Media & Content Creation: Develop and execute a digital strategy across Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, and the school website to highlight student achievement and campus life.
- Translation & Event Support: Provide written and verbal translation (English/Spanish) for parent communications, school events, and conferences.

Qualifications - Required
- Proven experience in IT support, systems administration, or operations management.
- Strong proficiency with Windows, macOS, and Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides).
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to multitask, prioritize tasks, and manage ticketing/inventory systems.
- Commitment to working respectfully with children and adults across diverse backgrounds.
Qualifications - Preferred
- Bilingual (English/Spanish)
- Relevant IT certifications (CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, or equivalent)
- Experience with social media content creation and graphic design tools (e.g., Canva).
- Experience working in urban school settings or charter school environments.
- Bachelor’s degree
- California Teaching Credential or BCLAD certification.
Start Date: Immediate Start
Time Commitment:
This position is 1.0 FTE (full-time non-exempt) and follows a 12-month work year with significant student-free days for professional learning and collaboration with colleagues and interaction with families through nightly events, overnight field trips, and weekend activities are required.
Schedule: 7:00AM- 3:30PM
Salary and Compensation:
Salary scales are based on years of experience and expertise. Scales are competitive with other charter school organizations and local districts.
Hourly base range: $28.84 +DOE
