JOB This technical and professional planning position plays a key role in guiding the County's growth and development through comprehensive planning, research, and policy analysis. This position will conduct research, analyze complex planning issues, prepare reports and recommendations, and contribute to projects that influence long-term community development. This position requires specialized knowledge in one or more of the following areas: comprehensive planning, growth management, land development regulations, and environmental planning. Performs background research, interviews, and surveys in specific or general planning project areas.

Prepares complex reports, charts, graphs, and maps which clearly and concisely express the ideas and recommendations being made.

Reviews and analyzes complex regulatory ordinances. Makes recommendations for future actions and assists in updating regulations.

Assists with the evaluation of adequate public facilities to meet current demands and projected needs.

Reviews and analyzes Federal and State regulations related to environmental issues, land use planning and growth management. Makes action recommendations as needed.

Provides information to public and/or other agencies regarding comprehensive plan or land use issues

Assists with updates to the Comprehensive Plan and the development of community or neighborhood plans.

Writes and presents formal technical reports and working papers.

Conducts review of various development applications including subdivisions, permits, site plans, rezoning requests and special exceptions.

Regular attendance, evening and weekend meetings may be required.

Develops strategies to promote economic and community development consistent with community goals.

Identifies community problems, issues and opportunities that could be mitigated through better planning.

Emergency Response
County employees are required to report for work during a state of emergency and are subject to recall around the clock for emergency response operations which may include duties other than those specified in this job description.
