American Traveler is hiring an LPN/LVN for a Medical-Surgical assignment at a correctional health facility in Cook County, IL, requiring an active Illinois LPN license and correctional or acute care experience.

Night shift schedule: 5x8-hour shifts (23:00–07:30)

Every other weekend (2 weekends per month) required

Charting system is Cerner

This is a mandatory float facility — all clinicians are required to float at the facility's discretion, including to units outside their primary area of competency and potentially to other Cook County facilities within 50 miles
-
Free parking available on a first-come, first-serve basis

Active Illinois LPN license required at time of consideration (no pending license); if schooling was completed outside of Illinois, recent corrections experience in IL is required

Graduate of an accredited school of Practical Nursing

Current BLS certification
-
Successful completion of pharmacology/medication administration coursework in accordance with IDFPR Standards for Practical Nurses (documentation may be requested)

1 year of recent full-time paid clinical experience in an acute care or ambulatory care facility preferred

2 professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration

Proof of COVID vaccination required — no exceptions

Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to qualify for travel rates; local candidates within 75 miles should inquire separately

RTO is limited to a maximum of 5 days per contract, with no more than 2 consecutive days off at a time
-
No RTO approved on weekends
-
No RTO on holidays, or the day before or after a holiday
-
No special or block scheduling requests will be considered

When floated outside of primary competency area, a team-based care model is used
-
Clinicians may receive float notifications as little as 2 hours before their shift
-
Holiday coverage is required; calling out on a holiday may result in contract cancellation
-
Navy blue scrubs required
