Position Summary:
The MDT Specialist provides coordination and leadership to the members of the Valencia County Multi-Disciplinary Team and supports families at the VSS Child Advocacy Center.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
· Screen and triage referrals to the Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT).
· Compile and Maintain Case Record/Information
· Schedule/Facilitate and Coordinate Team Meetings
· Provide ongoing case coordination, care, and support to all MDT members.
· Develop/Implement Policies/Procedures
· Identify Needs and Coordinate Training Activities
· Educate the community regarding the MDT and recruit and onboard new team members as appropriate.
· Lead members to prepare and implement accreditation.
· Provide advocacy and support to families at the VSS Child Advocacy Center.
· Ensure that prompt and appropriate actions are taken to ensure the safety of the child victims and to reduce the trauma of the victimization of the child.
· Minimize the number of required interviews for the child victim.
· Facilitate recommended medical and mental health services.
· Coordinate efforts in order to eliminate duplication of services
· Increase the likelihood of successful prosecution of offenders.
· Provide support for non-offending parents in order to enhance their ability to protect and care for their children.
· Promote policies, practices, and procedures that are culturally sensitive.
· Willingness to take on new challenges, responsibilities, and assignments as needed or assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in child development, psychology, social work, or a related field. Two years of relevant experience in a human service-related field, team facilitation, problem solving, conflict resolution, and working knowledge, experience, and expertise in the area of child abuse/neglect and family violence.
- Experience working with diverse populations.
- Must have the ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to teach and encourage clients.
- Ability to perform effectively and calmly in crisis situations.
- Ability to interact with residents in a caring manner while maintaining boundaries.
- Must be team-focused and work well with co-workers and partner agency members.
- Must be able to complete all required NMCSAP/NMCADV/NMCSVANW/CVRC/CYFD training before assisting survivors
- Track records of demonstrating qualities such as good judgment, responsibility, and an ability to relate effectively with clients and family members.
- Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment background investigation
- Must have an acceptable driving record, a valid driver’s license, vehicle insurance, and a reliable vehicle
- Proficient in Microsoft Office or similar software and operating systems such as Windows and MacOS.
- Maintains good physical and emotional well-being.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other staff, court officials, landlords, and other housing professionals.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bilingual (English-Spanish) proficiency highly preferred, but not required
POSITION TYPE AND EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK:
- This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are typically assigned by management.
- Non-exempt employees are provided with two paid fifteen-minute breaks and a 30-minute paid lunch with management approval.
- This position may be eligible for remote work with management approval, subject to the VSS policies.
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT:
● Will have repetitive hand and arm motions and prolonged periods of sitting
● While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, listen, reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
● This position requires frequent manual dexterity in combination with eye/hand coordination, such as keyboarding and handling of equipment
● Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus
● The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
● The noise level in the work environment is typically low to moderate
● Ability to be on a web camera/computer screen and remain on screen for extended periods for virtual meetings
● Work is generally performed in an office (in-person and/or remote)
● Flexibility to work occasional nights or weekends to meet the needs of the organization.
● Must be available to travel out-of-town for training or other work-related purposes
Pay: $25.00 per hour
