Position Overview
Sunshine Child Programs is seeking responsible, dependable, and safety-conscious individuals to serve as Campus Monitors at Broward County school sites. This position plays a critical role in maintaining a safe and secure environment for students, staff, and visitors during after-school program hours.
Campus Monitors are responsible for conducting routine patrols, monitoring school grounds, identifying and reporting safety concerns, and assisting with the implementation of campus security procedures. This position does not include direct student supervision responsibilities but requires regular interaction with students, staff, parents, and school personnel.
Candidates should be comfortable working both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions and be able to remain alert, observant, and professional throughout their shift.
Location & Schedule
Locations: Multiple Broward County School Sites Available
Hours:
- Monday–Friday: 1:30 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.
- Broward County Public Schools Early Release Days: 11:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Carry and maintain communication via two-way radio at all times
- Monitor and patrol school buildings, parking lots, playgrounds, and other campus areas
- Ensure gates, doors, and designated access points remain secured as required
- Report safety concerns, security issues, suspicious activity, and serious disturbances to Site Management and/or School Administration
- Monitor parking lots, walkways, and student gathering areas before, during, and after program hours
- Assist with implementing and monitoring school safety procedures and emergency drills
- Verify the presence and purpose of unauthorized individuals on campus and report concerns to administration
- Maintain awareness of campus activity and proactively identify potential safety risks
- Follow all Sunshine Child Programs, School Board, and site-specific safety procedures
- Interact professionally and respectfully with students, parents, school personnel, and visitors
- Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times
Minimum Qualifications
To be eligible for employment, applicants must:
- Be at least 21 years of age
- Possess a High School Diploma or GED
- Be able to read, write, speak, and comprehend English
- Have reliable transportation
- Demonstrate strong observation, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Work effectively as part of a team
- Maintain professionalism and good judgment in a school environment
Employment Requirements
All candidates must successfully complete:
- Federal and local background screening, including School Board fingerprinting
- CPR and First Aid Certification within 30 days of hire (scheduled and paid for by Sunshine)
Work Environment
- Assigned to one school location
- Indoor and outdoor work required
- Regular walking, standing, and campus patrol duties throughout the shift
