The Sumter County Correctional Institute is seeking qualified candidates to fill the position of Lieutenant. This position is responsible for performing supervisory and administrative functions at the correctional institute. Major duties include but are not limited to supervising and monitoring staff at the facility, ensuring daily shift activities are completed, conducting briefings, performing random drug tests on inmates, assisting in administering and supervising all aspects of inmate care and treatment services, overseeing tool and general inventory controls, inspecting dormitories, kitchen, hallways, bathrooms and other areas to ensure cleanliness, investigating all incident reports, disciplining unruly inmates, attend meetings and trainings, and other duties as assigned.
Minimum qualifications include knowledge and level of competency associated with completion of an Associate's degree in a related field; Experience sufficient to thoroughly understand the work of subordinate positions to be able to answer questions and resolve problems, usually associated with two to four years experience or service; Possession of a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated. Possession of or ability to readily obtain certification by the Georgia Department of Corrections. Must be able to work flexible hours.
