OVERVIEW
The TRIO Student Support Services (SSS) program at SUNY Plattsburgh is seeking an innovative, student-centered professional to serve as the Coordinator of Instruction and Student Success Initiatives. This position reports to the Director of TRIO Student Support Services (SSS) and serves as a member of the program’s leadership team. TRIO SSS supports eligible undergraduate students who are first-generation, meet federal income guidelines, and/or have a documented disability. This position is with the Research Foundation for SUNY.
Working within the broader Access & Opportunity Programs structure, the Coordinator helps ensure that TRIO SSS students have access to coordinated academic support, compliant course offerings, and meaningful opportunities to strengthen their academic, career, and transferable skills. The position works collaboratively with students, TRIO SSS staff, AOP leadership, faculty, campus partners, employers, alumni, and community organizations.
Primary Responsibilities
· Instruction and course coordination: Coordinate TRIO SSS-supported courses and instructional initiatives, including communication with faculty and academic departments, enrollment monitoring, student support, assessment, and compliance with grant and institutional requirements.
· Tutoring and academic support: Coordinate TRIO SSS student access to tutoring, supplemental instruction, and other academic support services within the broader AOP structure; identify areas of student need and help evaluate participation and outcomes.
· Student success programming: Develop and facilitate courses, workshops, and other learning opportunities that strengthen academic success, leadership, communication, problem-solving, self-advocacy, professionalism, and other transferable skills.
· Internships and experiential learning: Help students identify and prepare for internships, employment, undergraduate research, mentoring, service learning, and other high-impact educational experiences aligned with their academic and career goals.
· Scholarship and opportunity support: Coordinate outreach and student support related to TRIO, institutional, and external scholarships and funding opportunities that increase access to academic and career-building experiences.
· Individualized student support: Maintain an assigned student caseload, assist students in establishing academic and career goals, provide proactive outreach, and connect students with appropriate campus and community resources.
· Program leadership and assessment: Contribute to TRIO SSS planning, assessment, reporting, and continuous improvement; maintain accurate records of services and outcomes and supervise designated graduate or student staff as assigned.
Required Qualifications
· Master’s degree in education, counseling, student affairs, higher education, social work, curriculum and instruction, career development, or a closely related field.
· Experience working with college students through teaching, advising, coaching, mentoring, academic support, or a related student-success role.
· Experience developing or facilitating courses, workshops, training, or other structured learning experiences.
· Demonstrated ability to coordinate programs, manage multiple priorities, and collaborate with a variety of campus and community partners.
· Strong organizational, written, verbal, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
· Experience using student participation, feedback, or outcome data to inform and improve services.
· Demonstrated commitment to supporting first-generation students, students with financial need, students with disabilities, and students from historically underserved backgrounds.
Preferred Qualifications
· Experience with TRIO, opportunity programs, access programs, or similar student-success initiatives.
· College-level teaching or curriculum-development experience.
· Experience coordinating tutoring, supplemental instruction, internships, career-readiness programming, scholarships, or other high-impact practices.
· Experience supervising, training, or mentoring graduate or student staff.
· Familiarity with grant-funded programming, program assessment, or compliance-related documentation.
· Experience using student information, case-management, learning-management, or program database systems.

Experience: Three to five years of progressive experience in higher education, student support,

Salary Range: 58,000 – 70,000 and excellent fringe benefit package.
