We are seeking a professional, self-driven, compassionate, and energetic Resident Care Assistant to join our dedicated team in providing exceptional care to residents at a small residential home for the elderly. Duties
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support
- Monitor and record vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, and temperature to track health status
- Support residents with medication administration following prescribed protocols and documentation procedures
- Provide compassionate care for residents with dementia or Alzheimer's disease, implementing memory care strategies
- Operate manual handling equipment, such as Hoyer lifts safely to transfer residents with mobility challenges
- Prepare nutritious meals and assist with feeding as needed, ensuring dietary restrictions are followed
- Maintain the cleanliness of resident areas through regular cleaning and sanitation practices
- Document care activities accurately using provided systems and report any changes in the resident's condition to relevant staff, family, and medical personnel
- Support group activities and social engagement initiatives to promote mental stimulation and community involvement for residents
- Follow safety protocols, including CPR, First Aid, and proper lifting techniques, to ensure resident safety at all times
- Be willing to greet and effectively communicate with medical personnel, care team members, families, and any visitors.
Experience
- Prior experience working in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or long-term care environments is highly preferred
- Experience assisting with ADLs and providing personal care within a senior or disability care setting is essential
- Familiarity with dementia, Alzheimer's, memory care, and geriatrics enhances your ability to deliver specialized support
- Knowledge of medication administration procedures and EMR systems is advantageous
- Demonstrated ability to handle manual tasks such as heavy lifting or using assistive devices like Hoyer lifts
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or behavioral management skills is a plus
- Valid certifications in CPR, First Aid, and safe manual handling are required or highly desirable
- Experienced CNA (certified nurse aides) are highly preferred
Pay: $16.00 - $18.50 per hour
