JOB
This is skilled work in the safe and efficient operation of heavy and specialized equipment used to maintain assets associated with the Flood Control Project and Stormwater Management System. Occasionally, this position may direct a small number of laborers assigned to the completion of specific tasks. Work is performed independently, but under the general direction of a supervisor. Ability to obtain and maintain a valid Kansas Class B CDL with both air brake and tanker endorsements.The days and hours for this position: Monday-Friday 7:15 am - 3:45 pmBargaining Unit: Service Employee's International (SEIU)**Employees within the department or division shall be given first consideration****Posting may close at any time **
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Assist with assigned maintenance and construction tasks involving the operation of heavy equipment including but not limited to the operation of backhoes, bulldozers, scrapers, and snowplows.Assist with assigned tasks involving the operation of specialized equipment including but not limited to combination cleaners, pumps, and television inspection systems.Clean, repair, and replace storm sewer conduits and structures.Perform maintenance tasks associated with mechanical equipment to ensure proper and safe operations.Assist supervisors on specified tasks, including but not limited to completion of daily work assignments with necessary documentation.These examples are not intended to be all-inclusive.Other related duties and responsibilities may be assigned as needed.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
Required Experience and Training Must be 18 years of age.A valid driver's license.Ability to obtain a Class B CDL with tanker and air brake endorsement within six months of employment. If you are a Canadian or Mexican citizen, you will be required to have or obtain a CDL from your home country.Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need of a sponsorship. Preferred Experience and TrainingSix (6) months of experience with storm water systems and infrastructure.A Class A or B CDL with tanker and air brake endorsement.
