Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) – Clinical Research
Job Summary
The Clinical Research EMT supports the conduct of clinical trials by providing direct patient care, assisting with research procedures, collecting study data, and ensuring participant safety. Working under the supervision of Principal Investigators, Clinical Research Coordinators, and healthcare providers, the EMT helps ensure studies are conducted in compliance with Good Clinical Practice (GCP), study protocols, and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate is bilingual in English and Spanish and is flexible to support study activities outside traditional business hours, including overnight and weekend shifts as needed by study conduct.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform clinical assessments, including blood draws, vital signs, EKGs, height, weight, and other protocol-required procedures.
- Monitor study participants before, during, and after research visits and report abnormal findings.
- Respond appropriately to medical emergencies, adverse events, and participant safety concerns.
- Assist healthcare providers with clinical examinations and procedures.
- Maintain participant confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and institutional policies.
Clinical Research Support
- Assist in screening, recruiting, and retaining study participants.
- Support the informed consent process and verify participant eligibility per protocol requirements.
- Facilitate communication with participants in both English and Spanish.
- Ensure adherence to study protocols, GCP guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
Data Collection & Documentation
- Accurately collect and document study data in source documents, electronic medical records, and clinical trial databases.
- Maintain detailed participant records and research logs.
- Assist with data clarification and quality assurance activities.
Qualifications Required
- Current EMT certification/licensure in Florida.
- Fluent bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish (spoken and written).
- Experience providing direct patient care in emergency, clinical, or healthcare settings.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency with electronic medical records and computer applications.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Availability to work overnight shifts and weekends as required by study protocols and operational needs.
- Experience performing phlebotomy and ECGs.
