Position Overview
Veracity Electric is seeking an experienced Senior Estimator to lead and develop our estimating function with a focus on accuracy, consistency, accountability, and strategic growth. This role is responsible for overseeing estimating operations, improving estimating processes, supporting bid strategy, and ensuring projects are positioned for successful execution.
The ideal candidate is a strong leader with deep electrical construction knowledge, a passion for developing people, and a commitment to driving operational excellence.
As the Senior Estimator, you will:
- Lead and manage the estimating team, establishing clear expectations and accountability.Develop, implement, and maintain standardized estimating processes and procedures.
- Oversee cost databases, labor units, material pricing, and estimating systems.
- Ensure estimates are accurate, complete, and aligned with company standards.
- Support bid/no-bid decisions in partnership with Business Development and Operations.
- Prioritize opportunities based on profitability, risk, and strategic objectives.
- Implement risk identification, contingency planning, and scope review processes.
- Track and report key estimating metrics, including hit rate, estimate accuracy, and workload capacity.
- Collaborate with Operations to ensure smooth project handoffs and accurate transfer of project information.
- Clearly communicate project scope, assumptions, qualifications, and risks.
- Mentor and develop estimating team members to support long-term growth and performance.
- Identify opportunities to improve estimating systems, processes, and overall department effectiveness
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in electrical contracting.Experience in estimating, preconstruction, or estimating leadership.
- Strong understanding of labor productivity, material pricing, procurement processes, and cost modeling.
- Experience developing or improving estimating systems and workflows.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Experience working collaboratively with Business Development, Operations, and Finance teams.
- Proficiency with estimating software and bid tracking systems.
- Experience with commercial and industrial electrical projects.
- Multi-state or multi-region project experience.
- Design-assist or negotiated project experience.
- Experience improving estimating performance metrics such as hit rate and estimate accuracy.
- Proven success developing and mentoring estimating teams.
