Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Nursing Supervisor - Registered Nurse to lead and coordinate nursing care in our outpatient within our healthcare facility. Responsibilities
- Supervise nursing and support staff providing guidance, mentorship, and performance evaluations to ensure adherence to best practices.
- Coordinate patient care activities, including assessments, treatment planning, and documentation, ensuring compliance with HIPAA and state healthcare regulations.
- Oversee the implementation of clinical protocols related to critical care, long-term care, geriatrics, behavioral health, and acute care settings.
- Manage staffing schedules to maintain optimal coverage while balancing workload efficiency.
- Ensure accurate medical documentation using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Epic or Cerner; monitor compliance with ICD-10/ICD-9 coding standards for billing and record accuracy.
- Facilitate interdisciplinary communication among physicians, therapists, case managers, and other healthcare professionals to promote seamless patient care transitions.
- Lead quality improvement initiatives focused on infection control, patient safety, and regulatory compliance; participate in audits and accreditation processes.
- Support staff development through ongoing training in areas such as IV infusion, sterile technique, ventilator management, catheterization, and basic life support (BLS).
Skills
- Extensive clinical experience in critical care environments such as ICU or Level I Trauma Centers; familiarity with Level II Trauma Center standards is advantageous.
- Proven leadership in supervising nursing teams within hospital medicine or medical-surgical units; experience managing teams in long-term care or assisted living facilities is preferred.
- Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems including Epic, Cerner, or Athenahealth for documentation and data management.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, and diagnostic evaluation techniques.
- Expertise in medication administration, IV insertion/infusion, catheter care, phlebotomy procedures, and infection control protocols.
- Familiarity with healthcare coding systems such as ICD-10/ICD-9/CPT for accurate billing and documentation purposes.
- Ability to manage complex cases involving dementia care, behavioral health issues, pediatric (including neonatal ventilator) or adult patients requiring specialized interventions like tube feeding or spinal tap procedures.
- Excellent communication skills coupled with the ability to lead multidisciplinary teams effectively while maintaining compliance with HIPAA regulations.
