Breakfast Chef
Reports To: Executive Chef / Sous Chef
Status: Full-Time, Hourly (AM Shift)
POSITION SUMMARY
The Breakfast Chef is responsible for preparing, cooking, and presenting all breakfast menu items with consistent quality, speed, and hospitality. This role ensures an exceptional morning dining experience for guests of Heidel House—delivering freshness, flavor, and efficiency that set the tone for their stay. The Breakfast Chef supports both Oakwood Restaurant and morning banquets and events.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIESCulinary Execution & Quality
- Prepare all breakfast menu items according to standardized recipes, portion sizes, and quality standards set by the Executive Chef.
- Cook eggs, omelets, proteins, potatoes, griddled items, and specialty dishes to order with accuracy and consistency.
- Ensure all food leaving the kitchen meets Heidel House’s presentation standards.
- Maintain full awareness of dietary needs, special requests, and allergy concerns; prepare dishes safely and thoughtfully.
Service & Guest Experience
- Work closely with servers, banquet staff, and leadership to ensure timely, accurate service.
- Contribute to a warm, welcoming morning environment by providing prompt ticket times and consistently high-quality plates.
- Participate in morning banquets, breakfast buffets, brunches, and special events.
Organization, Prep & Efficiency
- Complete daily prep lists, including cutting, portioning, marinating, batching, and stocking the line for smooth service.
- Maintain proper product rotation and labeling; ensure FIFO practices at all times.
- Monitor par levels and communicate low stock or shortages to leadership promptly.
- Assist with menu specials or brunch features as directed.
Cleanliness & Food Safety
- Maintain a clean, organized workspace throughout the shift.
- Follow all food safety standards (ServSafe) including proper temperatures, storage, sanitation, and allergen practices.
- Ensure equipment is cleaned, sanitized, and returned to proper condition after use.
- Report any maintenance concerns immediately (ovens, grills, refrigerators, etc.).
Teamwork & Communication
- Work collaboratively with morning servers, dish, and fellow cooks to ensure seamless operations.
- Communicate effectively with the Executive Chef, Restaurant Director, and Banquet Director about needs, timing, and quality.
- Support lunch or early banquet prep as needed before end of shift.
- Uphold a positive kitchen culture built on respect, teamwork, and professionalism.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Previous breakfast cook or line cook experience required; hotel or resort experience preferred.
- Strong understanding of breakfast-style cooking: eggs to order, griddle work, buffet timing, and plate presentation.
- Ability to work quickly, accurately, and cleanly in a fast-paced morning environment.
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation guidelines (ServSafe certification a plus).
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., stand for long periods, and work early mornings.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
SCHEDULE
- Early morning shifts (typically between 6:00 AM – 2:00 PM depending on business levels).
- Weekend and holiday availability required.
- Additional hours for brunches, holidays, or special events as needed.

Pay: $17.00 - $22.00 per hour
