Eton School in Bellevue, Washington, is an independent school for children age three through grade eight whose mission in educating the whole child inspires creative, confident thinkers who have an enduring passion for learning and are poised to contribute to the world. In support of our mission and statement on diversity, we seek qualified Clubhouse Staff to work within our childcare programs.
One opening is within our Pre-elementary program and the other opening is within our School-Age program serving grades 1-8. If you have a preference for working with either age group, please share that information with us.
The schedule for this position is Monday-Friday, 3:00-6:00 p.m., as 10-month employees during the academic year. Work schedule may vary in hours for non-class days and scheduled breaks when childcare is provided. The primary responsibilities of this position include supervising students in childcare, supporting the Clubhouse Supervisor, and preparing/maintaining the Clubhouse environment.
Examples of Daily Tasks Include:
- Implement the set schedule for snacks, activities, and free play established by the Clubhouse Supervisor.
- Supervise students while playing indoors and outside at recess, ensuring the physical and emotional safety of students.
- Manage student behavior using positive discipline and maintain consistent expectations.
- Clean and organize the materials and spaces used during childcare.
Requirements and Qualifications:
- Minimum 18 years of age
- Minimum 2 years of experience working with children
- High School Diploma or GED
- Degrees or credentials related to education preferred
- A warm disposition, confidence, and kindness when working with children, effective communication, professionalism, and taking initiative in handling work responsibilities.
- Health and safety trainings can be completed upon hire, costs reimbursed by the school:
- Pediatric and Adult CPR/AED and First Aid training
- Bloodborne Pathogens training
- Mandatory Reporting of Child Abuse and Neglect
- Medication Management
- Student Boundary training
- Food Worker Card
- If working within Pre-elementary department: 30 STARS hours of Child Care Basics course and meeting the requirement for 10 STARS hours of annual professional development.
- Results of a one-step Mantoux TB skin test prior to starting work or provide written proof of a negative test result within the past twelve months. Positive results require documentation of treatment or a negative chest x-ray.
- Proof of MMR vaccination, proof of immunity through antibody titer, a health care provider's attestation of infection sufficient to provide immunity, or documentation of medical/religious exemption.
- Completion of a Portable Background Check through DCYF and submission to fingerprinting as required.
- Ability to lift 30 lbs. overhead, stand or walk for extended periods, and move freely while supervising and engaging in indoor and outdoor activities with students.
