You’ll be responsible for maintaining a clean and organized store, assisting customers with their selections, and promoting our latest titles and events. This position requires day and weekend availability.
Duties
- Greet customers warmly and provide personalized book recommendations based on their interests
- Operate the point of sale system efficiently for sales transactions
- Assist with stocking shelves, merchandising displays, and organizing new arrivals to ensure an inviting store layout
- Maintain accurate cash handling procedures and perform basic retail math during transactions
- Support inventory management by stocking shelves regularly and conducting stock counts to ensure product availability
- Maintain store cleanliness and organization, including sweeping, dusting, wiping surfaces, organizing backstock, and keeping displays tidy
- Use step ladders safely to merchandise and restock shelves
- Assist with opening, closing, and daily operational tasks
- Participate in onsite and offsite events, which will include after-store hours
Experience
- Previous retail sales experience is required
- Strong communication skills and phone etiquette are essential for engaging with customers both in person and over the phone
- Familiarity with POS systems, cash handling, and retail math ensures smooth transaction processes
- Comfortable with the physical aspects of retail work, including bending, climbing step ladders, lifting boxes, pushing carts, and standing for extended periods
- Ability to lift and move boxes weighing up to 30–40 pounds
- Willingness to participate in all aspects of store operations, including cleaning and organization

Pay: $12.00 - $15.00 per hour
