Duties
- Perform comprehensive dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup
- Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and dental charts to ensure safe and effective treatment
- Educate patients on oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and treatment options tailored to their needs
- Assist with chairside procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to optimize efficiency and comfort
- Take and interpret medical imaging such as X-rays, ensuring proper positioning and safety protocols are followed
- Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of patient records in EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix
- Follow infection control protocols, including aseptic techniques and sterilization procedures, to uphold the highest standards of safety and hygiene
Qualifications
- Valid state licensure as a Registered Dental Hygienist with current certification to practice
- Proven experience in general dentistry and pediatric dentistry preferred, with familiarity in pediatric dentistry techniques a plus
- Proficiency in dental terminology, medical terminology, and medical coding for accurate documentation and billing
- Strong knowledge of anatomy, infection control practices, HIPAA regulations, and medical records management
- Skilled in using EMR systems such as Softdent for documentation review and patient data management
- Excellent patient care skills with the ability to assess patient needs effectively and communicate clearly
- Experience with dental assisting tasks, chairside assisting, and medical imaging enhances your ability to support the dental team effectively
