Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) assists in the management of patient care by providing clinical and clerical support to healthcare providers. This position plays a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care through the administration of treatments and medications, patient assessment support, care coordination, documentation, and patient education. The CMA/RMA collaborates with providers and other healthcare professionals to ensure efficient patient care delivery and positive patient outcomes.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
· Support providers in the delivery of patient care and daily clinical operations.
· Perform and document the administration of medications, injections, treatments, and procedures as directed by the provider and within scope of practice.
· Prepare patients for examinations and treatments, including obtaining vital signs and medical histories.
· Assist providers in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care according to established policies and procedures.
· Maintain accurate, timely, and complete patient documentation within the electronic medical record (EMR).
· Coordinate patient care activities and communicate effectively with patients, providers, and other healthcare team members.
· Provide patient education and instructions as directed by the provider.
· Schedule appointments, process referrals, manage patient communications, and perform other clerical duties as needed.
· Ensure exam rooms and clinical areas are clean, organized, stocked, and prepared for patient care.
· Adhere to infection control, safety, confidentiality, and compliance standards, including HIPAA regulations.
· Assist with quality improvement initiatives and other duties as assigned.
