Duties
- Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) specifications to accurately set up CNC machinery..
- Prepare and install tooling, fixtures, and workpieces on CNC milling machines and lathes, ensuring precise alignment with specifications.
- Operate CNC equipment such as Fanuc-controlled milling machines and CNC lathes, maintaining optimal machine performance.
- Conduct precision measurements using calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, coordinate measuring machines (CMM), and other precision instruments to verify part dimensions.
- Perform routine maintenance on CNC machinery and troubleshoot issues promptly to minimize downtime.
- Follow safety protocols diligently while handling electrical discharge machining (EDM), welding tools, hand tools, power tools, and other manufacturing equipment.
- Support lean manufacturing initiatives by maintaining organized workstations and reducing waste through efficient tooling management and process improvements.
- Assist in assembly operations when required, ensuring parts meet quality standards before final packaging or delivery.
Skills
- Strong mechanical knowledge with experience in machining processes including CNC programming, setup, and operation.
- Proficiency in reading blueprints and technical drawings with GD&T understanding for precise manufacturing.
- Hands-on experience with CAD (Computer-Aided Design) software such as SolidWorks or similar tools for design verification.
- Familiarity with CAM programming to develop efficient toolpaths for CNC machines.
- Knowledge of electrical discharge machining (EDM) techniques for complex part fabrication.
- Ability to operate CNC milling machines and CNC lathes controlled by Fanuc or similar controllers.
- Skilled in using precision measuring instruments like calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and coordinate measuring machines (CMM).
- Basic math skills for calculating dimensions, tolerances, and machine settings accurately.
- Experience working with plastics injection molding equipment is a plus.
- Capable of using hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, forklifts, and other manufacturing tools safely and effectively.
