Position Summary: This position carries the major responsibilities for providing support and assistance to the Miami Lighthouse Academy Program daily operations. This includes assisting classroom teacher with daily routines and transitions between activities. In addition, this position carries the responsibility of instructing students and facilitating their learning in the absence of the regular teacher.
Essential Duties andResponsibilities include the following, but not limited to:
· Support instructional staff.
· Provide classroom support by assisting teachers with daily routines and transitions.
· Assist with morning and dismissal care routines
· Support before and aftercare programming as part of daily operations.
· Assist in feeding during all mealtimes (breakfast, lunch, and snack).
· Organize classroom materials.
· Assist students with toileting.
· Supervise students and ensure safety practices.
· Participates in staff meetings and trainings.
· Assist students with toileting and self-help skills.
· Remains flexible in accepting changes of assignment.
· Demonstrates organization, accuracy and timeliness in fulfilling duties.
· Completes relevant forms and files appropriately.
· Light Housekeeping as required
· Maintain a professional image.
· Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
· High School diploma. Must be at least 18 years old.
· Completion of the Department of Children & Family Child Care Training Required.
· DCF; Birth Through Five Child Care Credential
· At least one year of experience working with children required.
· Nurturing and patience when dealing with children.
· Ability to sit on floor, lift small children.
· Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time; bend, climb, kneel, and push, lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
· Ability to communicate effectively in verbal and written English.
· Bilingual in English and Spanish.
· Physical Exams are required to be completed annually.
· Valid Florida Driver’s License and/or ability to travel within the community.
· High degree of discretion when dealing with confidential information.
· Must be able to successfully pass a drug test and criminal background screening.
Pay: $17.00 - $19.00 per hour
