Duties
- Administer intravenous (IV) infusions, medications, and therapies with precision, adhering to aseptic techniques and safety protocols.
- Evaluate patient conditions through comprehensive assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and medical history reviews.
- Monitor patient responses during and after infusion treatments, promptly addressing any adverse reactions or complications.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans tailored to each patient's needs.
- Educate patients and their families on infusion procedures, medication management, potential side effects, and post-treatment care instructions.
- Maintain accurate medical documentation within electronic health records (EHR/EHR systems), ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, infection control practices, and ongoing staff training to uphold high standards of care.
Skills
- Proven experience in infusion therapy with strong knowledge of IV insertion, catheter care, and aseptic techniques.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner for efficient documentation.
- Experience working in diverse clinical settings including hospital medicine, outpatient clinics, or home care environments.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, and pharmacology related to infusion treatments.
- Ability to perform patient assessments accurately and respond effectively to acute situations such as allergic reactions or adverse events.
- Skilled in working with individuals with complex needs including those with developmental disabilities or requiring hospice & palliative care.
- Strong communication skills for patient education, triage responsibilities, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
