The Sunset Celebration is Hiring!
The Sunset Celebration at Mallory Square is looking for a Pier Manager/Security Gaurd to oversee our nightly festival! We are ideally looking for someone familiar with our historic event who has some security experience and is interested in playing a role in keeping sunset safe, fair, and friendly! Here's some quick things to know about the job:
- Starting pay is $20/hr (to be reevaluated after a 90-day-trial period)
- Security license is preferred but not necessary to start working. If you're a good fit we will pay for your security license certification!
- Work week is 5-6 days a week, for 3-4 hours nightly. Shift begins two hours and 30 minutes before sunset and ends one or two hours after sunset.
To be a successful Pier Manager you will need to have great people skills, experience performing conflict resolution/de-escalation, be well organized, and be physically able to stand and walk for several hours as well as occasionally lift things up to 50lbs. The Pier Manager's job entails nothing less than overseeing the entire Sunset Celebration event, ensuring that it runs smoothly and safely for both visitors and participants.
As Pier Manager your responsibilities will include:
-Opening/closing a kiosk booth, checking in vendors, and hanging banners then returning them to the booth at the end of your shift.
-Running the nightly lottery for participant setups and collecting their setup fees which you will keep written records of on our daily sheets.
-Walking a perimeter around the pier/square and ensuring no city laws or sunset rules are being broken.
-Reading and understanding all of our SOP's (Standard Operating Procedures) so as to adjudicate fairly and correctly when disputes may arise amongst participants.
